We were hired by the fantastic team at Green Grass Inc. to build an internal e-commerce system for their client Wesgroup. Wesgroup wanted to reward their staff members for all their hard work during the holiday season, so they had us develop a private promotional products e-commerce store where their employees can shop for Wesgroup branded products made by Green Grass Inc. Wesgroup didn’t want employees to have to spend their own hard earned money on this store, so we setup an internal points system that employees could use to make purchases on the site instead.
To help Green Grass manage the products that Wesgroup wanted to offer in the store our team at Bountiful Web developed a custom product importer plugin for Woocommerce. The custom WooCommerce plugin creates complex variable products from importing a simplified spreadsheet file of product data. This made it easy for their office administration staff to input product data without having to learn all about the WooCommerce product editor.
We also built a custom user account importer plugin for WordPress, so that the Wesgroup staff we worked with could provide a simplified spreadsheet of their employees information, and the custom user importer would automatically create a customer account for each employee to shop and track their orders with.
We’ve had two very successful years running this store, and look forward to doing it again next time!
